Lexi grew up in China and lived in Australia for 12 years, before moving to the States in 2018. She graduated from University of Newcastle with Bachelor degree of Nursing, and before becoming an artist, was a post-anesthesia recovery care nurse.
Lexi always considered tattooing as a form of art, expressing interest in the long history of tattooing, and how it has evolved over time. After her first tattoo, she started sketching tattoos, and was often commissioned to create designs for people while working as a nurse.
Upon moving to the States, she continued her journey by both studying art at the college level, and also taking on a full-time apprenticeship.
After working as a tattoo artist in Austin, she moved to College Station and opened Hidden Gem Tattoo. A studio different from most---centered around female empowerment and friendship. She created a space where everyone can come and get tattooed in an environment that is safe, comfortable and welcoming. As other female artists joined her, there was a need to expand. In 2022, a new, larger location was opened, and Sacred Sisters was created.
